The Goddard School® located in Waxhaw, NC at 1528 Providence Rd S is now looking for a motivated individual to join our administrative team. The ideal candidate for the Assistant Director role must have strong leadership and communication skills, as well as a good understanding of a developmentally appropriate learning program for young children. In addition, they possess the ability to motivate and inspire others.  
  
The Goddard School® faculty is made of caring and dedicated administrators and teachers who understand each child’s needs. Our faculty members are highly qualified early childhood educators. They use their creativity and state-specific learning outcomes as the basis for unique lesson plans that are brought to life in a fun and imaginative way. The onsite owner, director, and assistant directors must be committed to supporting teachers in order to maintain our high-quality program.

The Assistant Director's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 
  • Assist with the operations of the School, specifically focusing on educational programming, relationship building, faculty training & development, and quality assurance 
  • Develop strong relationships with our families; Greet families as they enter and depart the center; Communicate with families through phone calls and emails 
  • Communicate with prospective families via phone calls 
  • Conduct thorough tours for prospective families 
  • Complete a monthly newsletter to be sent to the parents 
  • Organize and plan events for our summer calendar 
  • Schedule and oversee bi-yearly picture days for the school 
  • Keep all assigned paperwork up-to-date 
  • Comply with state childcare licensing regulations as well as Goddard QA standards 
  • Strive for continuous improvement as we aim to be Cognia accredited in 2026 
  • Ability to work a 9:00am – 6:00pm schedule and perform closing duties 
  • Project a positive and upbeat attitude while working in a fast-paced environment 
  • Demonstrate highly effective organizational, time management, and multitasking skills 
  • Have a genuine love for children and a strong commitment to education 
 
As the school operates most smoothly with multiple assistant directors, these responsibilities along with any additional duties are shared among them.  
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field preferred 
  • NC Admin I, Admin II or Admin III level credential preferred 
  • Previous experience in an administrative position 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Develops relationships and communicates effectively with staff members and parents 
  • An inspirational leader and team builder 
  • Proactive about building relationships with new families and maintaining high enrollment 
  • Strategically resolves challenges and has a great attitude 
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement
