- Transport school-age children (ages 5 through 12) twice per day, once for drop off in the morning and another for pick-up in the afternoon from their local school(s).
- Occasionally assist with field trips and grocery runs.
- Adhere to all driving regulations, traffic laws and The Goddard School policies for child safety.
- Assist children as they enter and exit the bus and are wearing seatbelts properly.
- Perform daily maintenance/safety checks which includes checking brakes, tires, lights, and other essential components on the bus before and after trips.
- Keep accurate records of routes, child attendance, and any incidents.
- Keep the bus clean and organized, including removing trash and ensuring all safety equipment is readily accessible.
- Communicate effectively with The Goddard School staff and families regarding transport schedules and safety protocols.
- Part-time 15-20 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Position is for the school year (~9.5 months); alternative options may be available for the remainder months.
- Route is expected to take ~60 minutes, but is subject to adjustment based on number of children.
- The Goddard School bus is small with a maximum capacity 16 children.
- Be punctual, dependable and show empathy and compassion for young children.
- Serve as a positive role model for the children, exhibiting patience, kindness, and respect at all times.
- Be flexible and adaptable to changes in schedules, routes, or other circumstances that may arise during the course of transporting children.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.
- Valid Driver’s License with passenger and school bus endorsements (preferred).
- CPR and First Aid Training preferred.
- Clean driving record with no recent accidents or violations.
- Previous experience as a bus driver, preferably in a school or daycare setting.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols for transporting young children.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
