Position Overview:
As a Summer Camp Teacher at The Goddard School – Rock Creek, you will be responsible for planning and leading age-appropriate activities for Elementary School-aged children. You will create a fun, educational, and inclusive environment that fosters curiosity and creativity. You’ll collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to ensure each child is supported, engaged, and having a great time during their summer camp experience.
No Nights or Weekends!
Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement, and lead age-appropriate camp activities, including arts & crafts, outdoor games, music, and STEM-related projects.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care.
- Foster an environment of respect, inclusivity, and positivity for all campers.
- Encourage the development of social skills through teamwork and group activities.
- Communicate with parents about children’s progress, daily activities, and any concerns.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the classroom and outdoor areas.
- Collaborate with other teachers to create and deliver themed camp sessions.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for enhancing the camp experience.
- Assist in preparing and tidying up materials and spaces before and after camp hours.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred
- Child Development Associate (CDA) preferred
- 1-2 years of previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred
- Has successfully completed state-required pre-service training
- Develops relationships and communicate effectively with children, parents, and faculty members
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Must be able to pass a background check and meet all licensing requirements.
