The kitchen manager at The Goddard School is responsible for helping to establish and maintain a safe, healthy and nurturing environment.  They are responsible for preparing and delivering all food and beverage items served at the school.  Additionally, they are responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and overall appearance of the communal areas of the school.  A member of the kitchen personnel team of The Goddard School must be up to date with state and Goddard childcare qualifications and willing to step in ratio on an as needed basis.

A kitchen manager must meet the qualifications of his or her state and the following qualifications:

  • the ability to understand and support the education program using “learning through play” philosophy;
  • the ability to interact closely with children at their level;
  • the ability to keep children within sight and sound supervision at all times;
  • the ability to change children’s diapers and/or assist in toileting (where necessary);
  • the ability to understand and comply with the franchisee’s employment policies;
  • the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with school personnel, children and parents;
  • the ability to handle crisis situations, including assisting in evacuating the building during emergencies; and
  • the ability to comply in all respects with all applicable laws and regulations relating to childcare.

An offer of employment may be made contingent on the following:

  • An approved criminal record check as required by state regulations.

The kitchen personnel responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Preparing and delivering all food and beverage items provided by the school.


  • Preparing and delivering afternoon snacks to classrooms.
  • Preparing and delivering milk or milk substitutes each day to classrooms.
  • Picking up and delivering lunch boxes at appropriate times each day.
  • Preparing and delivering lunch to classrooms each Friday.


Cleaning, sanitizing, and overall appearance of kitchen and communal areas of the school.


  • Complete all parts of the Weekly Cleaning and Monitoring Checklist and submit to the Franchisee or Executive Director of school. 


Stay up to date with state and Goddard childcare qualifications and step in ratio when needed.


  • Pursue professional development/continuing education
  • Attend faculty meetings, in-service days, conferences and professional growth opportunities.



Compensation: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
