Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable, energetic, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Assistant Teacher / School Support Staff member. This role plays an important part in supporting our classrooms, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and assisting with daily school operations to help create a safe, nurturing, and welcoming experience for children, families, and staff.
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of prior daycare or preschool assistant teacher experience.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom & Teacher Support
- Support teachers during staff breaks and transitions while maintaining active supervision of children
- Assist with classroom activities, routines, and daily operations
- Help during outdoor playtime, walks, and school activities
- Assist with organizing and maintaining classroom supplies and materials
Kitchen & School Support
- Assist with meal/snack preparation, classroom meal distribution, and kitchen organization
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and food preparation areas
- Perform daily laundry duties including bedding, linens, and classroom items
- Support general school organization and light household responsibilities as needed
Facility Support
- Assist with maintaining cleanliness throughout the school during the day
- Mid-day trash collection and disposal
- Light mopping and spot cleaning during naptime as needed
- Clean interior glass/windows and high-touch surfaces
- Assist with routine carpet upkeep and classroom sanitation
Please note: The school has a professional cleaning crew for deep cleaning and major custodial duties.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of prior daycare/preschool assistant teacher experience required
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Comfortable working in an active childcare environment
- Dependable, punctual, and professional
- Ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods
- Positive attitude and willingness to support the team where needed
- Must pass required background checks
- High school diploma or GED required
